From the John Deere picket lines in Iowa and Illinois
Also billionaires are taxed less than you and 3.5 trillion is less than you think.
Alright.
I got hammered at a wedding in Iowa last weekend and decided to cure my hangover with some solidarity. So I dragged ass to the picket lines with John Deere workers in Iowa and Illinois who are striking for a bigger slice of the pie they built.
John Deere’s CEO John May, helped himself to a princely 15 million dollar slice of that pie for his own salary. But is anyone surprised by that? Look at this mug.
Please, someone, let me know when public outrage and fear of companies closing down starts bubbling up around CEO pay as it does anytime working people get a dime.
Deere workers made 2021 the most profitable in company history, yet the company is still handing more and more money to its richest person and demanding less and less for the workers who make it so profitable.
Anyway here’s the video I managed to squeeze out under the fog of a loathsome Iowa elixir dubbed a “Scott”, after the groom’s father… what can I say? It was a cup of brown liquor and an open bar.
And in other news about batman-super-villain-rich-dudes sticking it to everyone and generally not GAF, billionaires are taxed less than you are.
Here’s a graph that doesn’t make you want to roll up the paper it’s on and eat it to cure your boredom.
Yeah and one more video about how 3.5 trillion dollars over ten years is tiny in comparison to the 18 trillion dollars we spend on just two insanely popular and effective programs, Medicare and Social Security, over the same time period.
