This is where I hastily scribble about what’s going on. May include righteous anger and typos.

Hello new people!

Welcome to not quite journalism. The rules around here are loose and the management is poor at best, but here’s the deal.

We’re trying to build model media that’s small, nimble, could be started by anyone anywhere, and is focused on shifting the window of possibility by leapfrogging into the mainstream conversation now and then.

All of it is free, but those who support the media they want to see stick around can sign up for $5/mo ($60/yr) here.

Every week, roughly, I send one of these out with a crop of recent content. Sometimes is a short TikTok with a transcript including sources and other readings, other times it’s a round-up of shows we went on like today, or…. whatever’s laying around the content kitchen.

It’s my birthday today! So that will be short and sweet. If you don’t know me, hi. I’m John Russell. I grew up on a farm outside a tiny rust belt town in the Ohio Valley. My politics took their first left turn back then. I farmed for seven seasons, worked/volunteered for a baker’s dozen political campaigns, and ran for office twice. Those last two were crushing defeats, but hey… builds character. I moved back to the valley after about ten years away. Wheeling, WV is the soon-to-be headquarters. And I bartend twice a week to help pay for this media habit! Want to see this stick around?

We had a video go big about a week ago. I went up to a Trump rally in Erie, PA to talk leftist politics with people in line. It went well.

The video was a collaboration with More Perfect Union, whom you should definitely follow right now. I work with a small and absolutely wonderful team at MPU - all-star Co-producer/cameraman Nehemiah Stark, Co-producer and vibe captain Court Fuller, and Editor/Wizard Guy Josh Hirschfeld-Kroen.
